Senate Elections Act - Seantheman
Senate Elections Act 2016

A bill proposing to introduce elections into the Senate branch. These elections shall take place every 4 months and shall elect a new Speaker of the House.
This Act will take effect upon the day of its proclamation.
Be it enacted by the Legislative Branch of the Retro White House in Congress assembled,
Section I: Definitions of words or statements used within the bill
Election(s): An event that will take place every 4months, and will allow members of the Senate to elect their new leader (Speaker of the House)
Section II: The requirements
- In order to run for the office of the Senate position: You must meet the following:
- Have been a member of the Senate for 4 weeks.
- Been in the Senate Leadership for at least 2 of those 4 weeks.
- In order to run for House Speaker you must be:
- 7iC or higher within the Senate Leadership.
- If you are a member of any of the other branches you must have worked within the Senate for 4 weeks before in the past. You must also be a 7iC position or higher in order to run if you are part a different White House branch.
- If you hold the status such as Veteran, Former Vice President or Former President you may run for the Speaker of the House position.
Section III: The election events and the location
- The following events shall take place during the week of the Speaker of the House election:
- The Election Speeches
- Shall take place on the monday of an election week
- The Debate
- Shall take place on the wednesday of an election week
- The swearing in ceremony
- Shall take place on the friday of an election week
- Each election event of the Speaker of the House election shall take place within the Senate Chamber
Section IV: The swearing in process
- During the event of the swearing in ceremony, the Vice President of the White House shall administer the oath of office to the House Speaker - Elect.
- The oath of office: The Vice President shall stand facing the House Speaker elect and shall state the following:
- Do you solemnly swear that you will support and defend the Constitution of the White House against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that you will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that you take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that you will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which you am about to enter: So help me God.
- The House Speaker must respond with: I do
- After this, the House Speaker - Elect shall commence his/her 4 month term
